The cinema has always been a showcase for letting the imagination fly, and in this universal cultural space we find several examples in which technology has made its way. Next, we show you some titles where technological tools are very relevant.
Metropolis (1927)
It is a film set in the year 2000 that becomes a pioneer of fantastic cinema with technology as its main axis. One day Freder (Alfred Abel), the son of the almighty Joh Fredersen (Gustav Frohlich), who controls the city, discovers the hard labor aspects of the workers after falling in love with Maria (Brigitte Helm), a woman of humble origins. The son then warns his father that the workers might rebel.

Theme of The Bicentennial Man
THE BICENTENNIAL MAN chronicles the process by which an NDR-114 series robot named Andrew not only gains self-awareness but eventually becomes a human being, with all the advantages and disadvantages that entails. A strange glitch in his artificial brain has given Andrew unrobot artistic skills. Later on, the passing of the years and the constant questioning of his non-human condition will lead him, firstly, to buy his freedom, then to cover his metallic body with clothes and, finally, to undergo a series of operations aimed at not only to provide him with an increasingly human aspect, but also to make him feel a series of sensations, such as hunger or sex, as real. His desire to progress in this direction will make him end up adopting a drastic decision: that of altering his internal mechanisms so that they degenerate, “age” and die, since he has come to the conclusion that his main difference with the human being lies in the immortality of his artificial body, immune to disease and old age. On his two hundredth anniversary, Andrew will be declared a “human being” by a high international court at the very moment of his death.
